Sarah & Tom — Sunset Vineyard Wedding, Red Hill
Vineyard ceremony + marquee reception, Red Hill South · 115 guests
The brief: A two-location Peninsula wedding — vineyard ceremony at 5pm followed by a 6pm marquee reception 200m up the slope. The couple wanted Fleetwood Mac and 70s soft rock for the ceremony, dinner-friendly background through entrées and mains, then a packed dance floor from 9pm onwards across decades — 80s, 90s, 2000s, and a non-negotiable Australian wedding banger set to close.
What we did: I ran a battery-powered Pioneer rig in the vineyard for the ceremony so we didn't need a power run across the slope. Cue'd the Fleetwood Mac processional to land exactly as Sarah crested the row of vines. Pack-down took 12 minutes between ceremony and canapés. In the marquee I set up the main RCF NX-45 system and a small fill speaker behind the bridal table so speeches were intelligible at the back. MC'd the formalities — bridal party intro, cake, speeches, first dance — running 8 minutes ahead of the run-sheet by the time we hit the open dance floor. Read the room: opened with Whitney, kept tempo climbing, dropped Khe Sanh at 11:42pm to finish.
Outcome: Dance floor was full from the first song through to the venue curfew. The wedding planner has since referred three more Peninsula couples. Sarah's review mentioned the ceremony song timing specifically — the kind of detail that only comes from doing this for 20+ years.
